Wrote out general findings of survey under headings including Security, Cloud, Programming, Data, General IT, etc. Statistics are proving useful, for example 73% of companies showed an interest in some form of programming, of these 63% wanted stronger testing skills, 50% wanted stronger design skills and 63% wanted better project management skills. 73% overall were interested in a specific programming language, SQL being the clear favourite with 7 out of 11 companies mentioning it specifically.

Had a frustrating day trying to navigate the Microsoft Learn platform. The Learn platform has information which can be partitioned in several ways – by product, by role and by certification. You can then use the drop-down boxes to the left of the screen to further filter the results. My first issue came with not really understanding the levels for Microsoft versus the NQF levels I used previously, many of the exams and certifications call for experience with the topic in question, so they were unsuitable. Each certification page shows which learning paths are required before taking the exam, and each path is made up of modules. When I examined the paths and modules for the certification, they are narrowly specific to the certification, and many may not be applicable to a general course. Finished going through the Learn platform today. I was able to begin making some value assessment as I went through based on what I had previously read and what I was starting to understand. For example, a keyword search on the term “endpoint” with the filter “beginner” returns the module Reduce potential attack areas with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint , which is part of the learning path Secure your organization with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint . This is relevant to my report, in that over half of the businesses expressed the need for better education on security, and most showed a strong preference for Windows and Microsoft’s suite of programs. A quick check of the other modules in that learning path confirm that it is relevant, so I take notes, for example, it is beginner level, it concerns Microsoft 365 and Security Engineer role. The module is also included in  path, so it could still be applicable as part of a follow on course, and is part of the preparation for the MS-...
